FROSTBITE  SERIES   2010

A total of  SIX  rounds will be sailed, with SIX races being sailed EACH week, best FOUR rounds to count.   The same yacht must be sailed in each round, unless mechanical problems cannot be repaired at the lakeside.

ROUND ONE

Well, the first race of the Frostbite Series got underway, a chilly light Westerly wind, with close sailing by all skippers.
There was eight hardy souls today, with new kid on the block, Tony Ingle in his first race with the club, sailing his own built yacht Kermit.  Unfortunately Tony had a few problems with his sail winch, which meant he missed three of the six races.  Another skipper who joined in just for fun was Jeff Kenworthy from Whitby, he enjoyed himself,  so I think we may just see more of him at Carnaby Lake in the future.

ROUND TWO

Yet another cold day, well it is the Frostbite Series afterall, but with a change of wind direction, this time from the East.  Once again, some very close racing by all concerned, with the finishing positions exactly the same as last week.  Once again Roger was on form, winning three of the six races today, Brian with two and Tony Watts one.

ROUND THREE
Two days in a row of sunshine, but still a bit chilly, with the wind blowing west north west.  Only six skippers started today, with Neil acting as OOD to make sure everyone sailed by the rules .......... and what a good job he did.  It was the turn of Brian Hartley today with three wins, Roger two and Tony Watts one. Tony Ingle came in on the last race.

ROUND FOUR

Top spot for Tony Watts this week with three wins, Roger & Brian having a somewhat off day in the East North East wind, but Roger still holding on to first place overall at the moment. Two more races to go in this series, with all to play for.

As the old old saying goes, "Never count the winner until the finish."

ROUND FIVE

Only six skippers gathered at the lake side today. Once again Neil was OOD and kept everybody under control, which is a job on it's own at times believe me.  With an East North East wind all over the lake it made for a slightly longer course than previous weeks.  Brian had a better week after problems last Tuesday, winning four of the six races, well done Brian.  The thing is, can he hold his nerve next week after the close racing this week, Roger and him are on equal points, only time will tell. We are all now waiting to see Neil's new boat after hearing so much about it the last few weeks, come on Neil, put us out of our misery.................

ROUND SIX

Congratulations to Brian "Jammy" Hartley winning this series, with four wins today, beating Roger who only had two.  Having said that there was once again some very close racing in the West North West wind, which by lunchtime had moved round to South East, probably the best days racing out of the six in the series.

To follow on from last weeks report, Neil finally launched his new boat "Speck" today, with all the trimmings, unfortunately nobody had a camera to capture the moment.  I will try and get some photographs and post them on here soon.  Judging by the way "Speck" performed, finishing up in second place today, she will be a force to be reckoned with in the next series which will start in a few weeks time.

WELL DONE JAMMY
