ROUND ONE |
|
This series started today with sunshine, a south
westerly wind, and nine skippers. Mick Giles
joined us today and showed the rest of the fleet that he
had not forgotten how to sail his yacht. Brian
Hartley it appears was in the doghouse, sorry I
misunderstood, he was looking after the dogs, but he his
hoping his wife will let him off the lead next week.
Tony Watts and David Johnston were having a tussle, with
Tony just beating David by one point, and Mick just four
behind. Wins were shared between Roger 2 -
David 2 - Tony Friston and Mick Giles
winning one each.
The scoring system used is "HMS Scoring" which allocates points on a sliding scale, depending on the number of skippers taking part on each day. The more skippers there are, the more points are allocated. One or two skippers thought Brian should have stopped at home dog sitting, as he did win this round, but only by one point from Neil, with his new boat "Slart", and two from Roger with his faithful Lintel. Some very close racing today with wins for - Roger 2 - Brian 2 - Andy 1 - and Neil 1 ROUND THREE Another warm day today, a bit cloudy, a Northerly wind with the odd shower, and eleven skippers from our fleet taking part. Due to technical issues, Steve took on the role of OOD, possibly keeping a close eye on Neil with is new boat, which certainly showed the others the best, and the quickest, way round Carnaby Lake by winning four of the six races.
Neil Thornton's own design "Slart" ROUND FOUR Only eight skippers racing today, the rest must still be worn out after the MYA event on Sunday. However, the sun shone on the fleet, who were treated to a South Easterly breeze, and they sailed the same course as on Sunday, Steve said it would be a good idea, because they may just remember it............ Neil seems to be getting to grips with his new boat, winning three of the races, Brian two, and Tony Friston one. Tony Watts is still clinging on to his lead, but Neil is very close on his heels. ROUND FIVE Only eight skippers again today, as one or two are on holiday. The day started with clouds and a light shower, but not enough to deter our intrepid fleet. We had a nice north easterly breeze, and in the afternoon the sun shone. Neil has now taken over the number one spot, so it is all down to the last race next Tuesday to see who can hold their nerve and win this series. ROUND SIX This round took place over two days because of the weather. Nine skippers last week, light rain in the morning, then it got worse in the afternoon, making it rather unpleasant, so it was decided to finish the series another day. Only eight skippers turned up to take part in the last race. There was a good breeze, and a little bit of sunshine, wins for Neil, Roger, Tony Watts, and would you believe, one for Steve Booth......... Well done Neil Hard luck Brian The next series - Trafalgar Trophy - will start on Tuesday 4th October |
